Episode 1: About One APUS, Weather in Passage Planning and Decision Making

On the 1st December 2020, the Japanese flagged containership, ‘ONE APUS’ manager ‘NYK Shipmanagement’ – lost a number of containers due to severe weather conditions on Monday 30th November 2020 2315LT approximately 1600NM North West of Hawaii, USA.

In this episode, we offer our perspective of what it means to take certain decisions on the front line and why it is important to learn from such occurrences. We feel the need for such accidents to be seen in context, as they often cause a huge outcry, especially outside the maritime industry.
