SafeLearn ™: OSSA launches the First Online Version of Ontario’s Mandatory Health & Safety Training
TORONTO – The Ontario Service Safety Alliance (OSSA) will launch its new health and safety training program, SafeLearn™, the first online Certification Part I training program at a Special Event at the Design Exchange on Thursday, February 16 from 4:30 to 8:00 p.m. The Honourable Gilbert Parent, former Speaker of the House of Commons and Canada’s former Ambassador of the Environment and Sustainable Development, will kick off the ceremonies. Senior executives of Ontario’s service sector firms, WSIB and Ministry of Labour staff, as well as health and safety professionals from across Ontario will be on hand at the unveiling of this unique training program.
Who are We?: The OSSA is the designated Safe Workplace Association for the Service Sector in Ontario, delivering health and safety consulting, training, products and services to a wide range of clients. We represent more than 81,000 firms across the province in the retail and wholesale, restaurant and foodservice, tourism and hospitality, and office and related services sub-sectors registered with the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB). OSSA provides clients with the ability to seamlessly integrate health and safety into their workplaces at all levels
What is SafeLearn™ : The OSSA has developed and tested a new online training solution that will make health and safety compliance easy for employers. Certification Part I is a mandatory compliance course required by the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act and Bill C-45. This will be the first time Certification Part I, approved by the WSIB, is accessible online to help employers better manage health and safety compliance training.
Ontario employers want to support health and safety best practices but are often discouraged by the costs and constant maintenance of program administration. SafeLearn™ makes it easy and affordable!
“SafeLearn™ provides a cost-effective and timely solution” noted Michael Strait, OSSA Vice President Corporate Development. “It meets the needs of today’s employer by delivering a training solution with a terrific return on investment, and helps them to achieve health and safety compliance."
